Welcome to the AWCT

American Women´s Club of the Taunus e.V. - Serving the Frankfurt, Germany area

The AWCT is a non-profit organization that for over 30 years has served the greater Frankfurt area.  Our primary goal is to assist and support women and families who live in or have recently relocated to the Frankfurt area.  With over 450 members, the AWCT offers a wide range of activities, services, and social, sport, and hobby groups all designed to get members involved and connected in the Frankfurt area.   

The AWCT invites you to take a look at the website and see all the great things planned for you when you join!  With over 30 events a month, i.e. book clubs, tennis league, travel, mother's information and play groups, wine tastings, museum visits, fundraising for local and international causes and much, much, more, we are confident that new members will feel right at home.

AWCT Annual Activities Fair -- Tomorrow -- Tuesday, 7 September

9:30-12:30 -- Erlenbach Halle, Erlenbach-Bad Homburg

Join us for an informative morning!  The event will take place at the Erlenbah Halle where many different AWCT groupswill be present with representatives to tell you about their groups.  Also on hand will be other groups from the Frankfurt area.

Coffee and light refreshments will be served.  We look forward  to seeing you there!

The AWCT's Annual Charity Event was a Huge Success - 35, 368 euro was raised for Höchst Kinderklinik Neonatal Intensive Care Unit!

On 19 August 2010, the AWCT Charity recipient, Höchst Kinderklinik, and members of the 2010 AWCT Gala Committee attended the dedication ceremony of the 2 Giraffe incubators.  The Gala event raised over 30,000 Euros that made the purchase of he incubators possible.  The following press release was issued to the local German papers and appeared in the Bild Zeitung, Frankfurter Neue Press and Medcom.

Mit einer Spende in Höhe von 30 000 Euro unterstützt der American Woman’s Club Taunus (AWCT) die Kinderintensivstation des Höchster Klinikums. Von dem Geld wurden zwei Pflegeeinheiten für kranke Früh- und Neugeborene angeschafft. Bei einem Besuch konnten Mitglieder des AWTC erfahren, wie die neuen Inkubatoren praktisch eingesetzt werden. Die Geräte bieten einen optimalen Wärme- und Feuchtigkeitsschutz der Säuglinge. Auf einer verschiebbaren Liegefläche können operative Eingriffe durchgeführt werden, ohne dass die Babys umgelagert werden müssen. Integrierte Filmkassetten ermöglichen, unkompliziert Röntgenaufnahmen zu machen. «Die Einheiten erleichtern den Zugang zum Säugling für Ärzte, Schwestern und Eltern», fasst Chefarzt Lothar Schrod zusammen. Für die Intensiv-Kinderkrankenschwester und Pflegeleiterin Susanne Ressel stellten die Geräte eine wichtige Ergänzung der Ausstattung für eine maximal schonende, patientenfreundliche Behandlung der Säuglinge dar. knb
